July 4th: FREE POOL DAY
- Admissions are free for all visitors on July 4th. The pool will be open 12:00pm - 7:00pm
July 9th: Swimming with the Snakes
- Enjoy a pool party hosted by team members of the Southern Ohio Copperheads from 6:00pm - 9:00pm
August 1st: National Night Out
- Join local law enforcement for a free evening of fun! Free food, treats, and games for all! Time: 5-8pm Sponsored by the Athens Arts, Parks, and Recreation Department, Athens Police Department, OU Police Department, Athens County Sheriffs Office, and Ohio State Highway Patrol.
September 8th: Dog Swim 4pm-7pm
- The Dog Swim hosted by Friendly Paws Pet Supplies & Grooming and the Athens City Pool is always a fun time and this year it benefits a pet care program at Integrated Services . Bring your dogs of any size to romp and play and swim. Sun, Fun and Dogs - you can't have a better day than that! See below for required pet vaccinations to attend - you must bring up-to-date paperwork. Please read all guidelines below.
$10 per dog to enter; larger donations are welcome : ) Donations this year will benefit the Athens County Humane Society spay/neuter programs & humane agent work they carry out.
There is a zero point entry, a section for small dogs only and splash pad fun - bring your cameras!
PLEASE brush your dog prior to coming to the event. Dogs should also be rinsed before leaving the event, as some chlorine will be in the water, although at low levels which are considered safe.
The City of Athens requires that dogs be current with vaccinations and paperwork should be shown at the entrance. Core vaccinations as set forth by AAHA (Distemper Virus, Parvovirus, parainfluenza, Adenovirus-2 - the 5-in-1 vaccination) must have been received within the past three years. Puppy boosters must be up-to-date and is set at every 4 wks until 16wks old and a booster at 1 year of age. Rabies must also be given within the past 3 years for adult dogs and within the year for dogs under 2 years old. Bordetella should have been given within the past year. Titer test results also accepted.
Tennis balls will be supplied. If you bring a toy, it is at your own risk.
Humans are NOT allowed in the water, including the zero entry area due to concerns set forth by the Department of Health.
Please do not force dogs into the water. If they are scared, just let them run around and have fun. Forcing tentative dogs into the pool will not be allowed.
Children must be supervised closely and are not allowed on diving boards, slides or in the water at any time.
Please leave aggressive dogs at home for everyone's safety.
Dogs in heat are not permitted at the event.
