Crafternoon Youth Art Classes
Join local artists in an afternoon of fun this summer at Arts West. During each Crafternoon! class participants will be led by the instructor through arts & crafts projects any kid will love!
Enrollment for each class is limited to 10 students. All projects will be completed in one day, and taken home with students.
Weekly classes will be held Monday & Wednesdays for students in grades K-3 and Tuesdays & Thursdays for students grades 4-8. July 5th - August 23rd.
All classes are just $12 each and include all needed material.

Tuesday, August 2nd: Needle Felted Fox Friend: Students will get to experience the art of needle felting by making their own miniature fix friend!
Wednesday, August 3rd: Mixed Media Mothman: The legend of the Mothman of Point Pleasant West Virginia comes to life in this mixed media 3-D craft! Students will utilize toilet paper rolls and other adornments to make the body of their creature. They then will learn about the concept of symmetry as they create wings for their monster. Students will be able to take their Mothman home with them the day of class to lurk and creep in your home!
Thursday, August 4th: Air Dry Clay Bigfoot: The mysterious beast of the woods will be brought to life in this hilarious and expressive aid dry clay project!
Monday, August 8th: Make your own Magnets: In this simple and fun craft, kids can create their own magnets to decorate their fridge out of blank sheets of magnets. All materials will be provided.
Tuesday, August 9th: Kawaii Bookmarks: The Japanese art style of “kawaii” will be explored in this adorable project! Students will create a bookmark feature a design of their choice.
Wednesday, August 10th: Air Dry Clay Pokemon: Gotta Catch em All! Students will design their very own Pokemon, in this engaging craft. They also will get to design a Pokeball for their monster to emerge from for battle.
Thursday, August 11th: Elemental Plushie: Using the four elements as inspiration, students will design a stuffed plushie out of pieces of colorful felt. The soft sculpture will then be decorated with a variety of materials and techniques.
Monday, August 15th: Sun Print Banners: With the power of the sun, students will create beautiful organic sun prints using cyanotype fabric. The grounds of Arts West will provide leaves and twigs to create our prints. The banners will be finished off with a dowel rod and a beaded wire hanger.

Wednesday, August 17th: Sasquatch Softee: This simple yet adorable craft will let students create a beast out of a sock, wool roving, and felt. Other adornments can be added to give their yeti its own personality.
Thursday, August 18th: Fantasy Keepsake Boxes: A dragon’s eye focal bead will be the centerpiece of the sculpted keepsake boxes.
Monday, August 22nd: Unicorn Horns: In this fantastical, wearable craft, students will create dazzling horns out of air dry clay, foil, a readymade headband and a variety of shiny adornments!
Tuesday, August 23rd: Needle Felted Felines: A miniature companion will be created in this classic needle felted craft! If time allows, tiny accessories for the cats can also be created.
